The best PDF-annotation app for iPad (2022)

Figuring out the best PDF-annotation app to use as part of my note-taking workflow has been surprisingly tricky.


In January 2022, a former student of mine who is now in law school wanted to know which app I prefer to use. I responded at considerable length because I figured it wouldn't hurt to write something that could be of assistance not only to him in law school but also anyone else who frequently uses their iPad to highlight and take notes on PDFs.
